Amazing right?
Well, that’s true. The Ampex VRX-1000 was the World’s First Commercial VCR ‎invented in 1956. The Ampex was the size of a piano or a dining table and cost about $50,000. It used a rotating head that enabled it record up to 90mins onto a single reel. That technology still features in modern day VCR systems.
Technology sure has been a blessing in this regard… Lol
